Groups in P.1...
I believe that my group is great the way it is. We all work well and get along great. We each accomplish all of work, and study at a decent rate. The three of us also usually complete our homework, and we're good about asking questions if we need help. With that being said, I am saying that we all have similarities in my group. Therefore, I think it is perfect.
My response to the "What is reading?" packet.
In my opinion, I think that this was a great article, and it taught me a lot that I did not know before. It is a very detailed passage, filled with several facts.
From this article, I learned that while reading, your eyes move in jerks. This means that your eyes are fixating on every single word 90-95 percent of the time. I was also informed that sometimes, your eyes "regress", meaning that when you skip a word, or skip a line, or don't follow your place while reading, subconsciously your eyes try to find where they were lost at. Also, I learned that during this process, they move at 1/40 of a second. Proficient reading is obviously very important, but while reading this story, I found out that anyone has the potential for their eyes to be trained, meaning that you too can become an excellent reader! :)

So, yesterday (5/6/10), Phillip Rivers & Quentin Jammer, from the San Diego Chargers came to SPA with a group of people on a tour. I saw Phillip Rivers and was absolutely shccked, so I HAD to get an autograph. So I went up to him and asked him for one, but he didn't have a marker, he only had a pen and it wouldn't mark. So I shook his hand instead. That handshake made my day! He was carrying a baby in his arms, and I believe it was his fourth child. I also talked to Quentin Jammer and enjoyed his company. Later on that day, I found Phillip Rivers again and luckily, that time I had brought a Sharpie marker. He gave me his autograph and took a picture with me, as shown on this post.
Other than that, I am going on pass this weekend and will be in San Diego. I am going to see my little brother and step dad and I will be there the whole weekend. I haven't made exact plans on what I'd like to do yet, but Iron Man 2 just came out today, so I'd like to go to the movies and watch it... Maybe!

Cinco De Mayo 10 SSO
So, to start off, my week so far has been very... Crazy, per say. Ever since Monday, I have been getting sort of sick, but I don't know how, and I don't know what it is. Today is Wednesday and I went to the doctor this morning. The left side of my face, below my cheek right along my neck, it is swullen and it is hurting. The doctor said it could possibly be an infection or an absess, but I have no idea how that would have happened. For this weekend, I will be going on pass with my little brother and step father in El Cajon, San Diego. Most likely, all I will do is hang out and soend time with my little brother and watch the Lakers games. There is only three weeks left of school! I am very excited about that because there is a good possibility that I will move with my little brother and step dad. It is what I want more then anything, so it would make me very happy. But, once school is over, I plan on taking the two courses of summer school, in order to make up for some lost credits. That is about all that I have to say to some up my week. Thank you.

During The Earthquake....
Yesterday, 4/4/10, I was at a delicious Easter BBQ having a great time and laughing and joking when all of a sudden, the table that I was eating at begins to shake. It gets shakier and shakier, but I thought that it was just someone messing around and moving the table just to be obnoxious. But it turned out that it was an earthquake! Yes! An ACTUAL earthquake! It was pretty cool. There wasn;t really any damage or injury in the end of it all. The only thing harmed in the making was Marcos's basketball trophies. Ha ha ha.

So, yesterday, I went to school, and then after school, I went to the sophomore CAHSEE test meeting and did some work with my teacher, and several other kids. After that, I went home and waited until 4 o' clock P.M. for my friend Marcus to come over and get me so that we could start baseball practice. We both knew that our coach had cancelled the practice yesterday, so instead we just made our own. About 6 kids showed up, so it wasn't all that bad. We had a bat, gloves, and six baseballs. We had practice from 4 to 5:20.
Today is Friday, and since it's friday, I'm going on pass. I will go on pass to OSide, an I plan on having a fun weekend.

Self Knowledge Peom 1/25/10
And a man said, " Speak to us of self knowledge."
And he answered, saying:
Your hearts know in silence the secrets of the days and nights.
But your ears thirst for the sound of your heart's knowledge.
You would know in words that which you have always known in thought.
You would touch with your fingers the naked body of your dreams.
And it is well you should.
The hidden well-spring of your soul must needs and rise and run murmuring to the sea;
And the treasure of your infinite depths would be revealed to your eyes.
But let there be no scales to weigh your unkown treasure;
And seek not the depths of your knowledge with staff or sounding line.
For slef is a sea boundless and measureless.
Say not, " I have found the truth," but rather, " I have found a truth"
Say not, " I have found the path of the soul." Say rather, " I have met the soul walking upon my path."
For the soul walks upon all paths.
The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed.
The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals

Cliche Poem

1/20/10
A man will stand by his word, even when his word is no good. He will honor that word, and keep it- just like he should. But, let me tell you, every man has his price.
A mountain can and will be made out of many things. Mountains are looked up to as if they were heroes. But you can’t make a mountain out of a mole hill. But maybe someday you should, and you will.
If your ego is too big, you should swallow your pride. Live life as a ride. See life with eyes open wide.
If you have become annoying, you should consider splitting like a banana. You’re so tall, don’t hit your head on the cabana. What was that? Ok, see you manana.
Overall, remember one thing: you can’t make lemonade out of orange juice. Don’t get frustrated, stay loose.
Since we’re talking about fruit, remember that a rotten apple always spoils the barrel.
Don’t be a sour grape, be a smiling ape, happy with a plate of crapes.
Don’t be nervous like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Just knock it down like basketballs falling down stairs.
Keep your mouth quiet and don’t let the cat out of the bag, ‘cause if you did, that’d be a real drag.
Keep a smile on that face with those pencil thin eye brows.

Baseball
Today is, Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010.
Today is the first day for baseball and softball tryouts. I plan on going to practice and signing up for baseball. I WAS going to work, but instead, I decided i'll just play baseball. I still have to raise my grades up just a little bit if I really want to play.
Also, last week, on thursday I believe, I met a gentlemen named Marcus, who is now my mentor, and I think that he was going to take me out to dinner today. So, it looks like I have a full schedule all day.

10 SSO 2/19/10
So yesterday was an alright day. I didn't have too much homework, other than the 3 questions that I had to do for Mr. Walker, my history teacher. So, after school I went home, and then around 4 o' clock P.M. I went down to the office to see my social worker and meet my new possible mentor. It was a nice gentleman named Marcus. We had a sit-down meeting and questioned each other, in order to learn about the hobbies, likes, and dislikes of one another. In thee end, I decided to take him as a mentor. Then, I went home to eat dinner, went to the gym around 7:30 P.M. to play some basketball, and then went to the cafe around 8:00 P.M. to finish my homework for Mr. Walker.
Today I am going on pass.

So, to start this off, yesterday I did nnot do much after school except, go home and mess around and then go to the gym with Adolph and Lerontae, then went home and went out front with a couple of people and talked. Then went home and ate dinner and did my homework. Then around eight thirty, I went off campus with my house parent Erin, so that she could go and pick up a couple of kids from church and work. Then that is about it.

My Faorite Teacher
Who is my favorite teacher? ... My favorite teacher is my English 10 teacher Ms. Priester. She is very nice, and very awesome. She gives the class and I a good challenge in our work and she will never settle for anything less then your personal best. She also has a nice T.A. by the name of Ms. Raquel. They are both the greatest teachers, in my opinion.
Another 10 Second Sound Off..
Well, to start off, yesterday, my day was good all the way up until around 6:30 p.m. when my aunt called. She was being rude and obnoxious. She lives in Arizona. But, other than that my day was okay. Around 7:30 p.m. I went down the gym to play basketball and left around 8 p.m. Then I went home and talked to someone on the phone for a few hours. Now today I am going on pass with my friend in Oceanside. I look forward to a very fun and great weekend.

10 Second Sound Off
Well, I had a pretty great day yesterday, up until the point of third period. We had a sub named Mr. Knott and he had kicked me out of the class because he thought I was climbing. But really, I wasn't. But, after that I proceeded to have a good day and not let the kick out get to me too much. After school, I went home and served my restriction and watched a couple movies.
Now, today I am going on pass in OceanSide for the weekend. I will probably just relax and go to the beach. I look forward to having a very fun and exciting weekend.

Rhyme Poem (AABD Rhyme Scheme)
Once upon a time, there was a boy in a car.. Oh how he wished to be a star.. He thought to himself, " One day, I'll get far." And he did. He began to write, with skills out of sight, he knew wrong from right, and was flying the highest kite. That was the way that he felt.. Like a snowman that could never melt.. A piece of leather, to make a belt. Above all, the point is, that this successful boy in his nice white car, got very far, became a star, and began to live on Mars. He called himself Untouchable.

Figurative Language Games
The best figurative language game I played tonight is " Do you know metaphors?", because it was fun and easy- yet delivers a challenge. In order to play this game, I had to give it a couple tries in order to fully understand it. My final score on this game was %100. If you want to play this game, go to this link [http://www.kidsonthenet.org.uk/dragonsville/metaphor1.htm].
Another enjoyable figurative language game is "Metaphor Battleship", because it was challenging but at the same time fun and it is classic. In order to play this game, I had to follow the link from Ms. Priester's blog. My final score on this game was, me winning and the opponent having 4 hits on my ships. Not too bad at all. If you want to play this game, go to this link [http://www.quia.com/ba/42131.html?AP_rand=163810965].
My least favorite figurative language game is " Fling The Teacher", because it is challenging, annoying, and it makes you restart from the VERY beginning if even you ONLY miss one. In order to play this game, I had to follow the link on Ms. Priester's Blog. My final score on this game was 5 losses. If you want to play this game, go to this link [http://www.newton.k12.ks.us/tech/fling3.html].
